How to Write 64-Bit Compatible Code

Start64!Microsoft provides developers with free tools they need to create 64-bit code. Visual Studio has all the tools for each language, and it contains the .NET Framework, which is an integral part of each Windows program and operating system version. Install this software on your computer in order to write the code for a 64-bit compatible application.

  1. Open a Web browser and download the Visual Studio software to your computer. After the download completes, double-click the install.exe file to start the installation.
  2. Click "Next" on the welcome screen. The installation wizard performs a system check for the necessary Windows components. In the next window, select a folder for the installation files and click "Install" to install the software on your computer.
