October 16, 2008 — Silverlight represents one of those rare occasions where Microsoft promised to deliver cross-platform software—and delivered on those promises with a first-class implementation for Mac OS X as well as Windows, and for Firefox and Safari in addition to Internet Explorer. For that, Microsoft deserved an unabashed round of applause.
